Reading
We are starting a novel unit during reading. Things will be a little different for the rest of the nine weeks. We will still have a reading and vocabulary test on Friday, but it will be on four chapters in the book. All reading will be done in class. The students will not be allowed to bring the books home. The book we are going to read is Number the Stars. It is a great book and I think the children are going to love it.
Halloween Party
We are going to have a small Halloween party on Wednesday at 2:00. It is Ella's birthday, so her mom is going to bring something sweet for the class. I don't mind if parents come. The rest of the parties I will get you to send money with your child and I will go get the supplies, but since this is so close I am going to make a list and you can email me letting me know what you would like to bring.
Cupcakes - Mandie Baker
Drinks- Reyna Freeman
Chips and dip - Mark Adams
Fruit
Sweet snack - Amy Price
Sweet snack- Heather Price
Plates- Marliee
Napkins- Marliee
I think that is all we need, so for those people who won't have anything to sign up for if you would bring a bag of candy. (Reese's, snickers, blow pops, kisses, nerds, etc..)

We are doing Operation Christmas Child as a class. We decided to fill a girl 10-14 box. I am going to assign each child to bring one thing so we don’t have doubles. If you would like to give more you may, but remember it has to fit in a standard size shoe-box. Please get things that are age appropriate. I love this organization! It is amazing to watch the kids get excited about giving to others!
Thanks,
Miss Turner J
Everything is due by Monday, October 22, 2012
Things to not include: chocolate, toy guns, military men, knives, liquids, lotions, medications, vitamins, breakable items
Homecoming
Homecoming is coming up very soon, it is October 26! This year the theme is Homecoming for the Holidays. The 3rd grade is 4th of July! This is my first year decorating the wagon, and I have to admit I am a little intimidated by all of it, but I know it will all come together! I found super cute hats on orientaltrading.com. They are $2 per child. We are going to wear the hat and a PLA shirt or a red, white, and blue shirt. Everything else we are going to make! With that being said I would love your help and ideas!

Yes, it's that time again! The fall Festival will be Tuesday, October 30, from 6-8. We need donations of small prizes for the game booths, two-liter cokes for the ring toss, cakes for the cake walk, stuffed animals for the teddy bear walk, and baked goods for the country store.
If you would like to help, please send all prized and cokes by Monday, October 22. Cakes and other baked goods should be delivered on Tuesday, October 30.
Thank you for all your support

I will be asking for parent volunteers to work our booth closer to time!
